Oh no!
Furthest Ring Studios was announced in October 2023 under the name “Homestuck Independent Creative Union”, claiming itself to be a union of creators working on Homestuck associated projects. The main selling point of this organization is that it was fully independent of Homestuck, Inc., Andrew Hussie, or any of the other existing management structures that had damaged their reputations. This was untrue from day one. Despite the original title, Furthest Ring Sudios was never a union and it was never independent of Andrew. In fact Andrew doesn’t just have theoretical authority, they’re actively wielding power over projects in secret.
Shortly after the publication of this article the Homestuck Independent Creative Union changed their name to “Furthest Ring Studios”:
Wed Oct 22 18:43:30 +0000 2025We are Furthest Ring Studios.
So if you’re wondering about Furthest Ring Studios, this article is about them. Same people, same organization, freshly laundered label.
I hate to pause my “thriving after the Homestuck divorce” era to go back to dealing with this foolishness, but it’s such a transparent attempt to shed their skin and avoid accountability.
On the one hand, it’s good they changed their title to something that isn’t overtly false. Unfortunately this doesn’t change anything, since they’re explicitly describing this as a name change and not any kind of restructuring. They’re repeating the same claims about being independent, and they never changed their story that they’re functionally a union. More dangerously, changing the label is a continuation of the shell game: the new label looks like a fancy new studio distanced from the trouble the HICU’s stirred up, but it’s just an attempt to distance themselves from their own reputation.
To understand Furthest Ring Studios, continue to The Homestuck Union Was Always Fake.
